The Townshend Acts were a series of taxes passed by Townshend that put taxes on many things. The colonists protested against the taxes and boycotted all the taxed items by not buying them. This caused the british economy to go bad so the British all wanted to repeal the townshend acts as well. The taxes were removed except for the tax on tea which was kept because Britain wanted to show that they still had the power to tax the colonists.
